And we need your help spreading the word about the survey to other assistants and digital techs that you may know. The survey results will be published on PDNOnline in March.
It’s a totally anonymous survey, and takes about 10 minutes to fill out. Here’s the link:

Phase One releases another BETA V.5.x.x to it's BETA testers

by JamesNYCFebruary 11. 2010 08:46
Phase One sent out thir latest BETA release of Capture One Pro V.5.x.x to BETA testers this morning.

More so than any other time in the last 6 years that I've been using Capture One Pro, Phase One appears to be putting more effort in to the development of Capture One Pro then ever before.

The most obvious reason being their assimilation of Leaf digital nearly a year ago.  With the pace of development I would not be surprised to see a version of Capture One Pro V.5.x.x that is able to handle all aspects of the Leaf Aptus backs by spring time or late summer at the latest.

Also expect to see greater connectivity for all cameras systems, including those not officialy realesed yet. Greater parity for Mac and PC users.

In the future the iPad will replace the traditional print portfolio.

by JamesNYCJanuary 27. 2010 08:19
In the future photographers, and other graphic and media artists will be will delivering iPads to art directors, photo editors and clients rather than traditional portfolios for the following reasons.

It will cost less than a traditional print portfolio.

it will weight less than a traditional print portfolio.

it will be in a universal format that will make it easy for viewers to navigate. (unless the photographer gets crazy and creates some goofy Nav system. Not that that could ever happen...)

No more spending money on new prints for the book.

No more spending money to repleace acetate pages.

Faster turn around time for adding new images to portfolio.

iPad will allow you to display both images and video in 1 easy to use presentation.

A lost or stolen iPad will cost less to replace than a new portfolio.

Everyone picking it up will know how to use it.
